Garlic is an excellent addition to any dish. Mix it into spaghetti and you’re in for a real trick. This simple recipe will be a huge delight for all you garlic lovers out there. If you want to add a bit more flavor to it, you can also add some anchovies.

Ingredients:

  • 6 divided cloves of garlic
  • ¼ tsp crushed red pepper flakes
  • ½ cup of panko bread crumbs
  • ¼ extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 lb dry spaghetti
  • Kosher salt
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 3 oil packed and minced anchovy filets
  • ½ lemon zest and juice
  • ⅓ cup freshly chopped parsley
  • ⅓ cup freshly grated parmesan

Cooking Procedure:

  • In a large skillet, heat up the olive oil over medium heat. Add in the bread crumbs and the garlic and season it with red pepper flakes and salt. Mix and cook everything together until the bread crumbs reach a golden color and the garlic starts to smell nice. Cook everything for 3 minutes. Once done, remove the breadcrumbs and dab with a paper towel.
  • Thinly slice the remaining cloves of garlic and place them into a pot with boiling salted water. Prepare the spaghetti according to the directions on the package and set aside at least 1 cup of the water used to cook the pasta.
  • Return the skillet to medium heat and then add in the remaining olive oil along with the butter. Wait for the butter to melt then add the anchovies and the garlic. Cook it for 2 minutes until the aroma of the garlic comes out and the anchovies are dissolved.
  • Add in the pasta and toss it on the skillet. Put in the lemon zest and the lemon juice into the mix and the parmesan if you’re going to use any. Add the reserved pasta water to thicken the sauce as needed. Stir in the parsley and the cooked bread crumbs then mix thoroughly. Top it with the parsley and serve while hot.
