Creamy Baked Mac and Cheese

Mac and cheese is a popular kid’s favorite. Not just for kids but adults as well. This family favorite will be loved by both your kids and you because it includes layers of healthy cheeses and creamy sauce. 

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups gruyere cheese grated
  • ½ tbsp salt 
  • ½ tsp black pepper 
  • 1 lb dried elbow pasta 
  • ½ cup all purpose flour 
  • 1 ½ cups whole milk 
  • ½ cup unsalted butter 
  • 4 cups grated medium sharp cheddar cheese 
  • 2 ½ cups of half and half

Cooking Procedure: 

  • First, pre heat your oven to 325 degrees F and grease up a baking dish with oil then set it aside. 
  • In a large pot, fill it with water and bring it to a boil. When the water is boiling already, add the dried pasta and cook it for 1 minute or until the pasta is cooked. Drain it and drizzle it with some olive oil after. 
  • In a large saucepan, melt the butter over some medium heat. Sprinkle in the flour and whisk it to combine both elements. When the mixture is fused together it will form a sand like texture. Cook it for 1 minute while whiskinging it. Slowly pour in the milk half and half while whisking until it is smoothened. Slowly pour in the remaining milk/ half and half until it’s fully smoothened. Continue to heat it up over med heat and let it thicken. It should resemble a semi thinned out condensed soup. 
  • Remove the heat and stir in the spices and all of the cheese. Keep stirring until the cheese has already melted. Keep stirring until it’s completely melted and smooth. In a large bowl, combine the drained pasta with the sauce and start stirring it to combine. Once done, sprinkle it with another layer of cheese and serve while hot.
